The first comfortable cell phones came to the market about the 2000s. They used to be very popular around with and teenagers of those ages. People would buy Telecom and Comcel prepaid cards to buy minutes and set the classic espionage ringtone.
They came in very different shapes and sizes. At first they are very simple and the principal aim from the companies was to make smaller devices that do not take too much space in your pockets or handbags. In addition, the first screens were in black and withe, but each brand used to have a characteristic backlight giving them their personal “touch”. Then, the industry started improving the design of these phones by making a flipping screen. Those models started getting used to being seen as a classy and expensive tool for some exclusive people. Besides, the new designs, as the current ones, used to have a screen full of colors and settings to control the appearance of each device.
Even though these cell phones may seem impractical nowadays, in its time people were fascinated with all the functionalities these things brought. At first, they were very basic, you could make calls, text messaging and in some models, play typical games based on turning on/off pixels like “Snake”. Then more functionalities came up,like the incorporation of mp3 players, camera or internet connection.
Despite the fact that all these characteristics may be obsolete or have been upgraded overtime with the smartphones,it is not just about hardware and software but also human behavior.
