Dear Matias

Ansewring to questions from our readers

Dear Matias:

I have a dilemma. Right now I really want to keep studying abroad. I have a really nice opportunity, but I don't have enough money to get by for the first months. On the other hand, one of the reasons I don't want to leave the country is my family. I am very close to my family and I know that it will be so hard for all of us if I leave them for a long time. I decided to write to you which aspect I should put first in my priorities. I am really confused and I would like to know what to do. -The Stroke that Deviates

Dear The Stroke that Deviates:

Before I tell you what I think about your situation, I believe that your family will always be there for you and could be the most important thing in your life. In my opinion, Firstly, if you take advantage of all the opportunities you will have abroad and have good grades, there are more chances for you to boost your career. Secondly, in case you miss your family, you could take a part-time job and save some money different from the scholarship. In this way, you could come back and share with them during the holidays.

Dear Matias:

I am writing to you because I am worried about my health right now. These days I started feeling very tired all the time. I thought that it could be that I was going to bed too late and wake up too early, so I started sleeping more but nothing changed. This situation is getting annoying because it is interfering with my daily life. I can't focus on my work and I am having microsleeps in any place all the time, just to mention some of the problems this situation provokes . What could it be? How can I get rid of this tired feeling all the time?

Dear Radiohead in Slumbers:

From my perspective, I believe that you have to visit a doctor if you think this is a situation that represents a risk for you and your daily tasks. On the other hand, I am going to give you some general advice that could improve your energy during the day. Firstly, if you are a person that spends a lot of time in front of your computer, you must take active breaks like doing some stretching exercises. In addition, if you don't do any exercise, it could be good to start doing something. This will improve your immune system and your body will start developing a different response during the day. Secondly, it is important that you keep an eye on the meals you're taking, the amount of carbohydrates, and fats you are consuming. The diet could be something that affects the way you feel throughout your days. Finally, I consider that it could be a good decision to visit a doctor and ask him for a blood test where they take a look at your glucose levels and your thyroid health.
