The first idea that you can make when somebody talks to you about Disney's animation revolves around the same type of characters designed for 8 year old children. But “Atlantis : The Lost Empire” is an atypical Disney movie with a different type of animations similar to the human body that talks about Atlantis and how the main character Milo Tach finds a book that tells the route to come to the lost empire Atlantis around a romantic and action story.
Not only do the different types of animation and story make this movie different, since even at the beginning the movie was thought to talk about the importance of knowing the history of the countries and the human civilization, where in this case was specifically Atlantis, the famous city described in the Plato’s text.
When talking about overrated films, it is clear that the film “Don't Look Up” has to be mentioned. The film, directed by Adam Mckay and published by Netflix talks about how our contemporary society would react to an imminent apocalypse, presented in the form of a giant comet that is heading to earth.
Don’t Look Up presented itself as a deep critique of extreme ideologies like capitalism, alienation and such other subjects of the same kind that are actually present in our contemporary world. However, all that “clever critique” falls apart due to the film lack of actually powerful messages and meanings that insentivate the critical thinking on the viewers. In the end, the movie is just telling you “If you are republican (liberal) you are good, if you are democrat (conservative) you are evil and dumb” this can be seen througout all the film, for instance in the depiction of the president of the United States or her asistant/son. After all, the movie ended up being the same type of problem that it criticizes and no, it is not some kind of meta-reference or something like that.
